Felony theft has several different types typically defined by the value of the stolen goods. States separate these felony theft charges into different categories typically called classes. A Class One Felony Theft charge, for instance, is reserved for very valuable stolen goods.
Most states do not give out large amount for felony theft convictions like a Class A or Class B felony, however some states, California for instance, inject the three strikes law for habitual offenders. Read Felony Petty Theft for more information on the three strike law pertaining to theft.
