It's best to avoid additional charges by contacting the service provider and canceling service immediately. This prevents someone from using the Blackberry device.
Here is a step by step guide to file a police report to report stolen Blackberry.
(Step 1) Navigate to the register page by clicking "Register" at the top right of the web site.
(Step 2) Enter registration information and click "Register." This sends an activation email to the address provided in the registration form.
(Step 3) Find the activation email in your email (sometimes it ends up in bulk or spam as we have no control over how your email processes our messages) and click the link provided in the body of the email. If clicking the link doesn't work, copy and paste the link in the browser bar.
(Step 4) Once the account is activated, log in to the account by clicking the "Log In" link at the top right of the web site.
(Step 5) Report stolen Blackberry by clicking "New Listing" then "Electronics" then "Cell Phone" and entering as much stolen Blackberry information as possible. Leave the "Post on Stolen-Property to internationally report as stolen" option selected and click "Submit" to internationally report the Blackberry theft.
There is an application called BlackBerry ER that can help recover a stolen Blackberry. Unfortunatley this works for stolen Blackberry's, not so much for a lost Blackberry.
How BlackBerry ER tracks the stolen BlackBerry is when a new SIM card is installed it activates the software which sends the phone number and IMSI number to a designated backup cell phone. I also tracks the stolen Blackberry using the GPS technology. You can then use this information when you report stolen Blackberry to the police.
Unfortunately, if you did not have this software previously installed and have experienced Blackberry theft it does not work. At this point the best thing to do is to file a police report and report stolen Blackberry here on Stolen-Property.com.
